General History

The Wash Park neighborhood was designed by Reinhard Schuetze – a German architect that specialized in landscaping – in the years of 1899 and 1908. Later, a couple of other architects contributed to the design of the area. Their names were Frederick L. Olmsted Jr. and Saco R. DeBoer. Until the year of 1940, most of the homes created in the region were brick. As time went on, the architectural styles in the area changed.
